A former senior army officer was today held guilty by a special court here in a 2007 case for amassing assets worth Rs 2.22 crore disproportionate to his known sources of income. Special CBI Judge Vinod Kumar convicted Anand Kumar Kapur, former Major General, south western command, Jaipur, and fixed the matter for tomorrow for hearing arguments on quantum of sentence. The court, however, acquitted his wife Mridula Kapur of the charges of abetting the offence of acquisition of the illegal assets. His wife had allegedly actively abetted him in acquisition of huge assets, it alleged. The charge sheet was filed against the accused under the sections of IPC and Prevention of Corruption Act.
