Court asks police to explain stand in Delhi hit-and-run teenager's case

New Delhi, Jun 10 (Agencies): A sessions court has asked the Delhi Police to explain why the teenager charged in the April 4 hit-and-run death case should be tried as an adult, as ordered by the Juvenile Justice Board. The accused turned 18 just four days after committing the crime. At that time, the accused had not yet turned 18, so the JJB would have normally tried his case. Additional sessions judge Vimal Kumar Yadav will hear the arguments of the police and the accused on July 2. Delhi Police has also filed an application seeking cancellation of bail for the boy's father.
