The Judge of Criminal Court “C”, Yamie Q. Gbeisay, has granted co-defendant Eugene Shannon’s motion to be included in the US$1.5 millon bond filed by other defendants in the Sable Mining bribery case. The US$1.5 million bond was in May 2016 filed by co-defendants Varney Sherman, Christopher Onanuga and E.C.B. Jones as a criminal appearance bond for the three of them. “The movant’s motion though not supported by law, being sound in reasoning, same is hereby granted and the resistance not being supported by law is denied,” Judge Gbeisay said in his ruling. He further indicated that since the object of the criminal appearance bond is already approved by the court, the defendant should make day-to-day appearance in court.
