According to a lawsuit filed in US District Court, the mother, who is Asian, gave birth to two non-Asian babies, and each child was a genetic match to a different couple that was also a client at the fertility clinic. The devastated parents were then forced to give up the children to their real genetic parents. They claimed they spent more than £80,000 on the IVF, or in vitro fertilisation, including medication, laboratory fees, travel and other costs. IVF is the process of fertilising an egg outside of the woman's body, before returning it to the womb to grow and develop.
