A couple discovered lifeless in their living room had become dependent on painkillers and died following a lethal mix of prescription and illicit drugs, an inquest has heard. The inquest was told the couple battled various medical conditions and had developed an addiction to pregabalin. Emergency services and officers attended after the couple were discovered unresponsive at 7.30pm, the hearing was told. A post-mortem examination confirmed an overdose involving morphine, pregabalin, diazepam, cannabis and other substances. Both took too many medications and simply stopped functioning properly and struggled with day to day life.
