GEORGE TOWN: The Penang Island City Council (MBPP) has issued notices to owners of 16 abandoned units at the Rifle Range Flats in Ayer Itam for allowing their units to be filled with bird nests, plant life, unwanted furniture and other fittings. Two notices were issued to flat owners who allowed pigeons to occupy their vacant units. All the owners of the abandoned units were instructed to ensure that all the filth and garbage in the units were cleared and to ensure that the units were clean and in safe condition. The Star had carried the report on its front page on Sunday about the presence of hundreds of pigeons nesting in several abandoned units at the flats. Meanwhile, Kebun Bunga assemblyman Jason Ong said the proposed regeneration of the Rifle Range Flats must be looked into seriously.
