Cotu wants the Teachers Service Commission stopped from implementing new rules that will compel teachers to disclose their wealth and bar head teachers from taking part in strikes. The disputed rules that are contained in the revised Teachers Code of Conduct and Ethics that seek to compel teachers declare the source of their wealth. The rules, restrain teachers from seeking sexual favours from or exert pressure on a learner for sexual activity or flirting with learners. The code also compels teachers to disclose details of their accounts subjected to audits immediately they quit service. Atwoli said the trade unions’ umbrella will take the battle against the TSC to court if the teachers’ employer goes ahead to effect the proposed laws.
