Cases were rising in the community in the South East, South West, East Midlands and the North East in the week to November 6, the Office for National Statistics said. The latest ONS data suggests there were around 47,700 new cases per day in England’s community in the week to November 6. It comes despite last week’s ONS report saying the number of new cases “appeared to have stabilised” at around 50,000 per day. And it comes despite two reports yesterday suggesting the R number may now be below 1 - meaning cases would fall. Around 1 in 85 people in England had the virus at any point in the week to November 6.
