Cases in Crawley, which is currently in Tier 2 despite two other boroughs in the country being in Tier 4 - has seen a five-fold rise in cases over the past three weeks. The only other areas that saw a faster rise during the same time frame were Hastings in Kent and Rochford and Baintree in Essex. One such disparity is in Hampshire where Gosport is in Tier 4 despite recording 159.1 positive cases per 100,000. Worryingly, almost every area in England currently in Tier 3 has seen Covid-19 infection rates surge in the last two weeks. Of the 315 local areas in England, 284 (90%) have seen a rise in case rates, 30 (10%) have seen a fall and one is unchanged.
