Coronavirus: Workers wear tracking tags to avoid construction chaos

Workers are wearing electronic tracking devices to help trace those exposed to Covid-19 and prevent major disruption of large construction projects. Construction companies worried about having entire sites shut down by a single sick worker are signing up for tracing systems. The GPS data was downloaded via cell phone towers and "geo-fenced" so the tracking halted when workers left the site. So far about a dozen companies employing more than 1000 workers had signed up, mostly larger operators in the construction sector. Brett Murray, chief executive of NGO Site Safe, said most construction workers had personal rather than company phones, and they could not be compelled to install a tracking app.
