Coronavirus: Wilko scraps plan to cut sick pay for 21,000 staff

In documents sent to staff and seen by Mirror Money, the company said it would be withdrawing sick pay for all workers after their second absence. "Wilko has paid Company Sick Pay to team members absent with COVID-19 since the beginning of the outbreak and continues to do so. This is over and above Statutory Sick Pay. "To further illustrate the depth of care we’re offering our team members, we’re introducing an enhanced package of support for our most vulnerable team members," the shop said in a statement. "We’re saddened to see people who don’t know the extent of care we’re offering our team members asking people to ‘block wilko’.
