The Prime Minister said on Wednesday 18 March: "we will be bringing forward legislation to protect private renters from eviction". Mr Healey accused the PM of breaking "his promise to the country's 20 million renters". Caitlin Wilkinson, Policy Manager at Generation Rent, said the delay in notice period for evictions fell far short of what was promised. "Many renters will end up with thousands of pounds worth of debt and no means of paying it off.
