A top winery restaurant in Hawke's Bay is closing its doors for good amid the coronavirus crisis. The winery side of the business will continue to operate and is offering a wine delivery service during alert level 3. Executive chef Punit D'Souza had only just started the job in November, moving to Hawke's Bay from Wellington where he had been head chef at the Noble Rot wine bar. The venue, on the Te Awanga coast about a 20-minute drive from Napier, has won several awards over the years, including Best Winery Restaurant at the 2018 Cuisine Good Food Awards. Chef D'Souza moved to New Zealand from India in 2009 and built up an impressive resume working in some of the capital's top restaurants, including Hippopotamus and Matterhorn.
