Coronavirus: The Queen and Boris Johnson hold weekly audience over the phone

Boris Johnson was due to have a face-to-face meeting with the monarch at Buckingham Palace on Wednesday as she conducted official duties in London. The Palace confirmed the audience took place over the telephone instead. On Thursday, the Queen will decamp to Windsor - her favourite home when she is not away in the summer and at Christmas. She greeted Captain Angus Essenhigh, who is the new commanding officer of the Royal Navy warship HMS Queen Elizabeth, and his predecessor Commodore Stephen Moorhouse. The HMS Queen Elizabeth warship was launched in 2014, but not officially completed until 2017, and is expected to become operational next year.
