Coronavirus Ireland: Country risks fourth wave if lockdown measures are lifted too soon, warns Dr Ronan Glynn

Ireland risks a fourth wave of Covid-19 if lockdown measures are lifted too early, deputy chief medical officer Dr Ronan Glynn said last night. Maintaining lockdown restrictions over Easter is a means to prevent people getting together and triggering another upward spike. “We need to get through the Easter period and be assured that people stay with the measures they have stuck with. That is a fundamental priority for us.”Earlier, another 14 deaths and 368 new cases of the virus were reported yesterday. It was backed by Prof Ferguson, Prof Kingston Mills of Trinity College Dublin as well as infectious disease consultants Paddy Mallon and Mary Horgan.
