AN IRISH solidarity group has launched a special drive to support the 6,000 people in Direct Provision centres nationwide through the Covid-19 crisis with their own dedicated handwashing products. Ireland now have 6,000 people living in DP centres - and a further 1,500 living in emergency accommodation centres. The DP centres feature people from more than 70 countries. “While centres provide hand washing gels in communal areas we wanted people to have their own products," he explained. In all three locations, volunteers collected enough products to give one item to every asylum seeker living in their respective areas.
