OPINION: Are we well enough prepared to stop the Coronavirus, or any future more lethal virus, reaching us? As the Coronavirus continues to take its toll, many places around the world have already implemented drastic steps in response to the new outbreak. This involves the coordinated actions of border patrol and national security officials; public health agencies; public and private vaccine researchers; and hospitals. It is therefore concerning that the current Government has been slow off the mark to respond to the threat of the current virus. Public health emergencies like this are a matter of national security – the risks they pose are bigger than politics.
