Now that Cord has extinguished the possibility of dialogue until all their conditions, some quite unreasonable, are met, a valid question arises what does dialogue mean for Cord? It means their appointing IEBC referees who will in 2017 pronounce in their favourSince the 2013 elections, Cord has made incessant calls for dialogue while issuing threats of national-wide protests if their demands are not met. The government has persistently tried to reason with Cord to avoid the path of mass action and use available legal means as laid out in the constitution. Pundits believe Cord has sensed defeat in the 2017 elections. The business community has also unsuccessfully pressed Cord to approach the IEBC stalemate using instruments laid out in the constitution.
