Cops: More traffic accidents in KL during Ops Selamat this year - Nation

KUALA LUMPUR: The latest Ops Selamat this year has seen a slight increase in road fatalities and accidents in the city, says city deputy police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Mazlan Lazim Said. He said that there were seven deaths over the recent festive period, compared to six last year. City cops recorded 2,536 accidents, with most occurring on Jalan Kepong, Jalan Cheras and the MRR2. DCP Mazlan said there were 252 more accidents than last year, which he noted was possibly due to the increased traffic in the city during the period. A total of 22,239 summons were issued in Kuala Lumpur during the operation period, which ended on July 2.
