KUALA LUMPUR (Bernama): Police denied that the motive for the fight between a group of residents armed with weapons at a block of the Sri Johor Flats in Cheras on Wednesday (Jan 2) night was due to racial issues. Cheras Deputy OCPD Supt Kamal Khan Mohd Shariff said the preliminary investigation had instead revealed that the fight was believed to be linked to a drug abuse case. “Further investigation is being carried out to identify the real cause for the fight at about 7.30 pm. “The motive for the fight which was claimed to be due to racial issues as viralled in the social media was not true,” he told a media conference after having a meeting with the Sri Johor Residents' Association, here Thursday (Jan 3). Meanwhile, he said police were also tracking down the irresponsible individuals who had viralled the incident by issuing fake statements so as to cause fear among the residents.
