Children at the Kensington Educare Centre will benefit from the proceeds of a Mandela Day cook-along that was aimed at raising funds for three educare centres in disadvantaged communities. Ramsay says: “We started the Mandela Day initiative because we noticed that the community with our network wasn’t doing anything specific to commemorate the day. Ramsay adds that their beneficiaries this year are the Kensington Educare Centre; a Johannesburg based NPO called FEED SA; and Ripples for Change, an Eastern Cape organisation. Wendy Claasen, principal at the Kensington Educare Centre, says they had to close temporarily last year due to a lack of funding. She says they are thankful for the much-needed donation from the Mensch cook-along.
