Haumoana School has been closed after the discovery of E. coli in its own private bore. Hastings District Council water service manager Brett Chapman said: "We are taking the precaution of considering the chlorination of the Haumoana, Te Awanga and Clive bores." At a press conference to address the Havelock North water contamination crisis, Chapman said they don't believe it's related to the main supply and need confirmation that it's in the same aquifer before taking action. Hastings District Council CEO Ross McLeod said the council was working closely with the Hawke's Bay Regional Council to look for the cause. - By Patrick O'Sullivan, Hawke's Bay Today
