Bangladesh Police have filed a case against Md Sumon, a constable from Brahmanbaria, who pretended to be a freedom fighter’s grandson to secure his job. He was arrested from Akhaura Land Port when he returned to Bangladesh from India through the Akhaura immigration checkpoint on Friday afternoon. Presenting himself as the grandson of a Liberation War veteran, he turned in the certificate of his neighbour, freedom fighter Md Hossain Mia, as evidence. The report said that Md Sumon was appointed as a trainee recruit constable on Jul 3, 2012. The case alleges Sumon deliberately submitted someone else’s freedom fighter certificate to push his application for the post.
