Former Kerala chief minister Oomen Chandy told a news conference at the party headquarters here: "A United Kingdom company De La Rue has been shortlisted for printing of plastic notes in India. It said there was a risk of the currency falling into the hands of terrorists or economic offenders, putting national security at risk. The Union home ministry in 2012 blacklisted the British firm after it found 2,000 metric tonnes of its paper for printing currency notes lying unused at its printing presses and godowns, Chandy said. De La Rue had last month said it was not aware "we are blacklisted in India". The statement issued on December 9 said the company was "not associated with printing of currency in India at present".
