Bengaluru: The likely decision to include the two independent legislators in the Karnataka assembly—R.Shankar and H.Nagesh—to the H.D. Kumaraswamy-led cabinet may end up just temporarily dealing with the disgruntlement than resolving the larger issue of the threat to the stability of the alliance government, senior leaders and party workers say. The Janata Dal (Secular) or JD(S) and Congress are yet to formalize this proposal but people aware of the developments claim that cabinet expansion would be announced later this week. “The expansion may help for the next six months but it depends on how we handle this situation," said a senior Congress leader, requesting not be named. The dissent within the government, its leaders and workers have cost the JD(S) and Congress dearly.
