Compulsive traffic offenders in capital take the wrong lane, 44 caught in 2.5 hours


On Wednesday, police stopped 44 cars in just two and a half hours at the Hare Road alone driving on the wrong side of the lane violating the traffic rule. A police officer with the rank of a superintendent and a member of the Public Service Commission were among 44 whose vehicles were stopped in the drive, police said. The vehicles stopped in the wrong lane included 27 motorcycles, 10 auto-rickshaws, a bus of RAJUK employees, a microbus of Public Works Department, two private cars, a police car, a pick-up truck, and a car of a PSC official. DMP (Traffic-South) Senior Assistant Commissioner Md Alauddin told bdnews24.com that PSC member Shahjahan Ali Mollah was not in the car when they stop his car. On Wednesday last week, no car of the VIPs was found in the wrong lane after fining of a state minister, secretaries, army and police officials, in similar drives on previous days.
