A Canterbury community has won a battle to stop a liquor store from opening in their town. Gulati Brothers Enterprises Ltd applied for an off-licence to operate a liquor store in Tai Tapu in the vacant Belleza Boutique building on Christchurch Akaroa Rd. An email from the district council said: "The applicant informed the chief licensing inspector that he wouldn't want to go against the community decisions or to upset the community. The Tai Tapu Community Committee also opposed the application.
