Inclement weather has descended on the Nelson region, prompting road closures and travel advisories on Tuesday. The Riwaka Valley Road, near Motueka, was also closed. In a post on social media, Tasman District Council said contractors were working to clear the road at both sites. Wind gusts had so far reached 83kmh at Wellington Airport and 120kmh at the top of Mt Kaukau.
