Photo: Geoff Sloan ​A substantial part of the Mairehau bike track project can now be completed, bringing it one step closer to reality. The track will be built on-site at St Francis of Assisi Catholic School but will be available for the community to use, and for now, the asphalt track can begin construction. The community project had struggled to gain traction due to a lack of funding, and the process to receive grants was slowed down by a number of hurdles. “Kids are more likely to want to bike [to school].”
