Nominations for Christchurch's Community Service Awards are now open, and the city's five community boards want to recognise people who go “above and beyond”, giving their time and energy freely to help and support others. The 2021 awards cover the Te Pātaka o Rākaihautū/Banks-Peninsula, Waihoro/Spreydon-Cashmere, Waikura/Linwood-Central-Heathcote, Waipuna/Halswell-Hornby-Riccarton and Waitai/Coastal-Burwood board areas. Christchurch City Council head of community support, governance and partnerships John Filsell said it is “important to acknowledge those often unsung people”. The community boards will host award ceremonies in June and July.
