The young man appeared in the Christchurch District Court on Wednesday for his very last judicial monitoring appearance before a judge. (File photo)A young Christchurch man who once threatened to ram a car into a crowd in a terrorist-style attack has been transformed into someone who poses “an almost non-existent” risk to the public. On Wednesday, the man, who has now been granted permanent name suppression, had his last judicial monitoring appearance before Judge O’Driscoll. He said the most recent psychological reports showed the man was at very low risk “if not an almost non-existent” risk of reoffending. Judge O’Driscoll praised the man for his progress and said he was a testament to how well the system could work.
