The defeat to Easter Jr on the night of Friday, September 9 was Commey’s first professional loss. Despite losing out on becoming a world champion, Commey was received at the airport by a large crowd and the Minister of Youth and Sports, Nii Lantey Vanderpuye, who promised to support the boxer to attain his dreams of becoming a world champion. Commey lost in a split decision after travelling the full 12 rounds. His record now stands at (24-1, 22 KO).
