Students of the University of Ghana were charged GHc100 each towards the purchase of power plants for the school at the height of the power crisis that hit the country two years ago. Even though the plants have been procured already, freshers of the university have reported receiving text messages requiring them to pay an amount of GHC100 for the purchase of power plants for their halls of residence. This is in addition to the GHc50 fee for the servicing of the already existing plants charged by the halls of residence. A message to one of the freshers read, “dear Bismark you are to pay GhC100.00 as levy for the purchasing of generator plants for your hall.
