Commerce Commission lays 15 charges against insurer YouiSCOTT WORSLEYThe Commerce Commission has filed 15 charges against insurance company Youi, alleging it used misleading sales techniques when attempting to sell policies to consumers who were only seeking a quote. The commission said Youi had co-operated with the investigation, and had indicated it intended to plead guilty to the charges. The insurer also sent invoices to consumers in relation to unsolicited insurance policies that did not specify that the consumer was under no obligation to pay for the policies, the commission said. "People have been rail-roaded and issued policies they didn't sign off," he said. CHANNEL 9The 15 charges Youi faces under the Fair Trading Act were "representative", the commission said, and related to alleged misrepresentations made between July 2014 and February 2016.
