Since coming out, I've felt a whole lot more liberated and have found it easier to meet people - through going to gay bars or over the internet. Since telling my mother, I haven't been able to discuss 'gay' stuff with her or talk to her about my boyfriends - she just changes the subject. I never had a girlfriend, but just looked at guys at the boarding school that I went to in a sexual way. I think this is because mothers have preconceived ideas about how they want their son or daughter to turn out.
