Comets clean up: Canucks' affiliate in Utica breaks AHL sellout record

The Utica Comets announced a sellout for their game against the Cleveland Monsters Friday night, stretching their string of packed houses to 121 games. That breaks the existing record, held by the St. John’s Icecaps, which sold out their AHL arena 120 times from Oct. 10, 2011, to Oct. 26, 2014. The Utica streak began back on April 10, 2015, nearing the end of their second regular season, and has carried on through three full seasons. AHL president Dave Andrews was expected to attend and drop the opening puck to celebrate the milestone, said Comets vice-president of communications Lindsay Mogle. “It’s such a humbling honour to be able to break the AHL sellout streak,” said Comets president Robert Esche in a release Friday.
