MANILA, Philippines — Six months before next year’s elections, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) has scheduled various activities and listed prohibited acts in connection with the May 13 polls. 10249 that set the election period from Jan. 13 to June 12, 2019. But the filing of certificates of candidacy (COC) for those intending to run in the midterm elections will run from Oct. 11 to Oct. 17. Meanwhile, the Comelec is not inclined to extend the voters’ registration period due to legal restraints. Jimenez noted that the SC in December 2015 ruled against extending the voters’ registration period.
