Share TweetBy Jeffrey DamicogThe Commission on Elections (Comelec) was asked yesterday (May 20) not to allow National Youth Commission (NYC) Chairman Ronald Gian Cardema to become a nominee of the Duterte Youth party-list for being unqualified. “As such, the Petition filed by Duterte Youth Party-List should be outrightly denied by the Honorable Commission on Elections En Banc,” they stressed. The opposition was filed after Duterte Youth filed its Notice of Withdrawal of its five nominees last May12 simultaneously with the party-list’s Petition for Substitution and the Certificates of Nomination and Acceptance. 10430 is not applicable to party-list nominees but only to Senatorial candidates is an erroneous interpretation of the said COMELEC Resolution in relation to pertinent election laws, rules and regulations.
