The Hong Kong Observatory has issued the Cold Weather Warning at 4.20pm today, where cold weather is expected in the territory in the next few days. Temperatures in the urban areas will further drop to about 10 degrees at night, and a couple of degrees lower in the New Territories. Morning temperatures in the urban areas will fall further to 7 or 8 degrees on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day, and a couple of degrees lower in the New Territories. Under the influence of an intense cold surge associated with the cold front, it will be windy with temperatures falling appreciably over southern China in the next couple of days. Another surge of the winter monsoon is expected to reach the coast of Guangdong midweek next week.
