Cold Weather Payment eligibilityTo be eligible for Cold Weather Payments, claimants must be in receipt of certain state benefits or Support for Mortgage Interest. Where claimants are eligible, they’ll be issued with £25 for each seven day period of very cold weather between now and March 31. Eligible recipients do not need to apply for Cold Weather Payments, they should be issued automatically. After each period of very cold weather in an area, recipients should get a payment within 14 working days. This is important to note as the Met Office has warned heavy snowfall and cold snaps are on their way, meaning Cold Weather Payments could be triggered over the coming weeks.
