The historic Cobbs Hill Methodist Church recently celebrated its 196th anniversary, holding a special service to commemorate the day. The Church received congratulations in the House of Assembly during the Friday session, with various Members of Parliament recognizing their milestone. Part of the new African Diaspora Heritage Trail, the Church was completed in November 17th, 1827. Their website notes that construction began in 1825 by free men, women and enslaved people, who “toiled in their spare time, mostly in the moonlight, cutting stone from nearby quarries and carrying it on their backs, shoulders, and heads to build their church.”Read More AboutCategory: All, History, News
