Acting on an anonymous tip, Coast Guard members conducted a raid along the shores of Payra and Bishkhali rivers on Thursday morning and seized the remains of a deer from Pakkhidiya area of the upazila. Patharghata Coast Guard Sub-Station Commander Zahurul Islam confirmed the news. We were able to seize the venison, but sensing the presence of the Coast Guard, the culprits fled the scene.”The Coast Guard official further said the deer was hunted sometime around Wednesday in the Sundarbans. “The seized venison and skull were burned in fire and buried in the ground under the supervision of a mobile court, but the skins were kept for preservation,” he added.
