All crew members are reportedly safe and there is no extensive damage to the ship. A cargo ship carrying iron ore was flooded Friday off Mumbai coast, leaving the front portion of the vessel partially submerged. Following the near mishap, Coast Guard reiterated the importance of preparing ahead for such eventualities during monsoon. A Coast Guard Helicopter, carrying de-flooding pumps, arrived at the scene to assist in rescue operations. The ship was not quipped with sufficient damage control equipment and would have capsized had help not arrived in time.
