Wallabies coach Michael Cheika might have survived a couple of thrashings from the All Blacks, but one of his Australian counterparts has not been so lucky in England. Matt O'Connor was sacked by the Leicester Tigers with immediate effect on Tuesday after just one game of the new English Premiership season. O'Connor had been in charge at Welford Road since April 2017 but departs following Saturday's 40-6 thrashing at the hands of Exeter Chiefs. The 47-year-old former Wallabies international and Queensland Reds coach, who also served as a player with the English midlands-based club, will be replaced on an interim basis by assistant coach Geordan Murphy, the ex-Ireland fullback.
