Club's joy spoiled by thievesDAVID WALKER/STUFF Police are investigating a robbery at the Ashburton Scout Hall over the weekend. After a stellar weekend on the water, Tu Meke Dragons paddling club had their joy stripped away by thieves hitting their Ashburton accommodation. The club was in town for the New Zealand Dragon Boat Nationals held at Lake Hood and were staying at the Ashburton Scout Hall on Melrose Rd. As well as the cash, Mitchell said the thieves had taken audio equipment, clothing, backpacks, prescription glasses and beauty products. He said he thought the thieves had entered via the bathroom window and some club members who had returned earlier in the evening had seen people at the hall.
