"The auditorium can be used by the university to conduct major conferences in which many experts from India and abroad will participate," the chief minister said.Similarly, a research and training centre would be set up at Anna University at a cost of Rs 50 crore.A motor vehicle centre would be set at the university at a cost of Rs 50 crore for research on pollution control. "Government college students will now have a chance to go out of the country and study for a few months, like the private college students. The college would start functioning this year.Similarly, an arts and science college would be set up at Perumbakkam in Kancheepuram district at a cost of Rs 8.48 crore. This college would also start functioning this year, said Jayalalithaa.Two open university centres would be set up in the Niligiri and Villupuram districts. The government will spend Rs 5 crore for this.The government would spend Rs 45 crore to set up biometric systems for schoolteachers and students (in place of attendance registers), the chief minister said.
