A clinical officer and a herbalist suspected of engaging in doping have on Friday been detained for 10 days after the police sought for more time to conduct in-depth investigations. The allegations against Limo and Mwangi follow closely with those against an Italian sports agent, Federico Rosa, who is facing claims of doping. Ken Kipchumba Limo, a clinical officer at St Luke's Orthopaedic and Trauma Hospital in Eldoret, and Joseph Mwangi who runs an herbal clinic were arrested on Thursday in Eldoret by the anti-narcotics police unit on suspicion of contravening the Anti-doping Act. They will each be detained at Muthaiga and Gigiri Police stations. In an affidavit sworn by corporal Paul Okumu before senior principal magistrate Joyce Gandani, Okumu said that the investigations involve the reputation of prominent athletes and that they may interfere with investigations.
