Climate change emergency popular in Nelsonian's public submissions

The public have spoken, and it is in favour of the Nelson mayor's climate change emergency declaration. Councillors heard the first public submissions on Nelson City Council's (NCC) annual plan on Tuesday, one which has brought climate change into focus, just a day after Mayor Rachel Reese announced her intention to declare climate change an emergency situation. Things have been done, it's saying: yes, we're going [to address climate change], we just need to go a bit faster." No public submitters spoke against the declaration, or the annual plan's focus on climate change. (File photo)Peter Robins said he did not expect to benefit from any climate change action, but presented on behalf of his grandchildren.
