A campervan has flipped injuring six people at the intersection of Quailburn Rd and State Highway 8 between Omarama and Twizel. One person has been flown by helicopter to Dunedin Hospital with serious injuries suffered when they were trapped under a campervan that flipped between Twizel and Omarama in the South Island. Emergency services were called to the scene of the single-vehicle crash at the intersection of State Highway 8 and Quailburn Rd about 1.50pm. Police closed State Highway 8 to traffic when the rescue helicopter landed and reopened the highway afterwards. A Fire and Emergency Services (FENZ) spokesman said three crews, two from Omarama and one from Twizel had freed the trapped person from underneath the campervan.
