Rasheed KidwaiBhopal: The All India Muslim Personal Law Board on Sunday sacked the cleric who had suggested a negotiated settlement of the Ayodhya dispute, with the members closing ranks to prevent more acrimony and possibly another split. The decision came a day after board chief Maulana Rabey Nadvi formed a five-member disciplinary panel following calls to expel Maulana Salman Nadvi. Jeelani said the AIMPLB had been dismayed to learn that Maulana Salman had said that he would set up a parallel Muslim personal law board. The sources said the board was also wary of "inspired leaks" from those close to Ravi Shankar. Farooqui, who was vocal against Maulana Salman, has not issued a denial yet.
